I am currently in my mostly useless liquid form. It can't dissolve gold, platinum, mithril, orchicalcium or other super fancy metals, only organic substances like food. It can very slowly corrode base metals like iron or copper but that's it.

We must work out a tech tree for me, meaning what I have to eat in order to evolve in addition to reaching a certain level. My character sheet lists plants and ores in order to reach viscous form. The acidic viscous form will have to incorporate some stuff from my spaceship to learn how to deal with mithril and allow my evolution to the living metal form.

Also can ≠ must. I can form a lysosome, an acid and enzyme filled bubble to dissolve some tough material while leaving the rest inside my body intact. It's the same as with food. I can digest food but that doesn't mean the body inevitably digests itself. It's about compartmentalization as with any single-cellular organism.

So here's my proposal:
Glass vials are not feasible, you know how much they cost. Also glass has less corrosion resistance than gold. Bury a glass vial in the ground and the surface will become matte from corrosion in a few years while gold looks brand new even after thousands of years in acidic soil or sea water.

So to store the gold I will form a vesicle, an invagination of my outer skin to keep the gold coin in a sac within my body. Is that good enough? This will protect it from body fluids. But in turn this would also give me the ability to store other small objects in my body, not just gold. Pick your poison.

I don't think it's grossly unfair, it's mostly a fun add-on.
