Give your actions some weight, describe how and where you swing and let the AI take it from there.
>You raise your ham-sized fists high above your head and bring them crashing down atop the beast’s skull like a pair of hammers,
>you hold the greataxe with two hands in a white-knuckled grip as you swing the savage weapon at the Wendigo's throat with all your might,
>You shoulder your rifle and take aim at the shambling corpse coming towards you as you gently squeeze the trigger, sending a .556 bullet screaming down the barrel,
Let the AI take care of the aftermath for you while you describe the beginning. Don’t try to write well for the AI, write like your hamming up the shit out of something.

I can’t think of many series that focus on action. Warhammer (both fantasy and 40k) and Conan the Barbarian come to mind.
