Porn use is motivated by the same neurological structures that create substance addiction, video games, scrolling social media.
Notice how the perceived severity of those activities varies, I agree that porn use for most people is just a mild way to kill boredom and deal with a boner, but for others it can develop into something more serious, in the same way that people can be addicted to cocaine whereas others can just do it here and there with no issues.
All addiction needs to be taken seriously, not just people who are hooked on heroin.
