Expansion lead to a lot problems when different intentions collide: Someone says this is mine and other says otherwise; because compromise is not always possible, some controversial action is sometimes unavoidable (using force if necessary). Earth's nature (animals and such) and humans (mediocre beings) are extremely full of examples of territorial problems.
