Lately there are some attempts from private companies and billionaires to reach "space" (above 100 km Earth's surface (sea level)). There are some motivations on it, one of them is to create a expensive tourism for rich people (unlike NASA and other government space agencies). It's expected that humans from Earth ultimately reach Mars in this century (XXI), Elon Musk is working on it.
Meanwhile, we're trying to reach all that exists (reaching all), literally All (omnipresent) and explore it. And that maybe take a while.
