It had matchmaking but it was kind of awful for how it would match you up that was technically geographically based but it would be poor connections.

I played it mostly with people I met in Halo/Far Cry so the lobbies were actually pretty diverse in characters, maps, and strategies with a mutual "don't be cheesy" understanding.
