Sexuality is a very good sample from the things that treated as private matter, presented as private matter, so a good parallel to religion to show the difference between the public thinking, the "de facto" treatment of things and how ideally should be.
So what Macron and co. says is withing the norms of current public and political thinking - was my original point I think.
