I bet if you try to look at the recent years, you won´t find that much material in comparison, mostly because there is no noise to point at. The biggest dramas happened in 2012 and 2013 but I dare you to find something that goes so explicitly to the cringy territory. /mlp/ does pony thread simulators for the lolz and there are still conventions out there but that´s internal fun.
If you can say that bronies are pedophiles or creepy, earlier this year, the Tooncritic drama happened and that youtuber was dating with a teenager(she however is not free of guilt). I haven´t investigated it that much but what I know is that all the fandom didn´t want to know about nor it wanted to know about him. That´s a peculiar case that even /mlp/ (and the chan part of the fanbase) demanded it.

They judged the episode by its teaser because Big Mac was crossdressing himself just to help her little sister for a contest called the Sisterhooves Social.
They lost but not because he was a stallion but because he broke the obstacles by using brutal force and that counted for a disqualification.
These two episodes (The Cutie Map, the opener for Season 5 and Brotherhooves Social, S5E18)would trigger Tumblr´s taste and in 2016, the fandom declined a lot of its interest for season 6. It would have a good attendance in 2015 but in spring of 2016, the activity fell a lot and we are with that dynamic even today. The closest recovery was the movie and this could be interpreted that the hype ended in 2015. Seeing the trends, it definitely shows. My guess is that there is a lot less drama and less people triggered and that MLP is not a fad anymore to jump on. This includes that Tumblr doesn´t focus on this show but in other places instead and they thought MLP would be its show for the love and tolerance meme. Turns out that 4chan stole it before and it has remained that way in the end after all.
