Say what ya want on the content, but both Derpibooru and Fimfiction are lightyears ahead of other sites it seems when it comes to design. There still can be retarded choices and quirks here and there but it seems like that the are an exception to the rules of that I see on most websites these days, either being stuck in the era that they were first made and or modern web design = minimalist and trendy design choices that you heard being shilled in cooperate circles.

That was me when I first saw it too, and I was involved in it for nearly years at that point. They had thrown in some 4chan memes and a few edgy for a show of that target demo lines of dialog before and put some decent action, but this caught everyone off guard. As my fellow anon said, you'd be surprised by some of the stuff they slipped in there from time to time that goes against the TV Y rating.

An addendum to that as well. Our fandom did have a large SJw presence back in 2012/2013. What initially cast the dividing line between us and the other fandoms that arose afterword was in my oppinion a massive shitstorm over a blog called ask Princess Molestia, it was an edgy blog about an alternative fan persona of the character Princess Celestia. It was really more of "lol, this character is sex crazed" then rape and it didn't even go fully NSFW on top of that , but the SJW's freaked out and launched a campign against it. In a gamergate fashion if you weren't for them you were against them and then many of them decided that the entire fandom was a threat itself. Most of our websites were made by people with a background in 4chan so non of there censorship stuff gained traction within our community much. They also attack a broad scope of people and drove out people who were initially sympathetic to there cause, such as Conservatives who hated porn, and hardcore Celestia fans who hated to see her protayed that way. This doesn't mean that there isn't a few SJW's that are in orbit of the fandom still to this day, but they never suffocated out all others like what happened to many other fandoms. Our fandom I wouldn't call a right wing fandom by any means, but it is one of the least left wing ones. Large apolitical but slightly non sjw left wing axis that is extremely permissive plus several right wing leaning smaller axis/subgroups. At least that's what it is now after most of the tumblr folks finally left.
