>>21228> I found the first 20 minutes or so beautiful on its own, but once the plot started I became bored and stopped watching it and have never watched the rest after having watched only half of it. The acting in older movies is so weird and exaggerated sometimes that I cannot immerse and enjoy the plot .
Acting was definitely a lot less serious and nuanced back then compared to now, although I didn't think this movie suffered from a particularly bad case of old movie acting
. The protag and the ballerinas were actually pretty good IMO if you can forgive their stereotypical "scream queen" moments. I think the set up (murders at spooky ethereal ballet school) is fine, but the archetypal boring villain (which seems like a better fit for some Disney adaptation of a folk tale, rather than an otherwise unique horror movie) lets the movie down a lot>And I believe they are italians as well
lmao best part of the review> You are watching more movies lately because of your new TV, right? What are you planning to watch next?
probably Buffalo 66. Sadly unlike Suspiria and many other movies I'd like to watch it never got a 4k remaster, so I have to seek out the 1080p copy with the highest bitrate I can find, otherwise they won't look that great on a big screen. Blade Runner did get remastered for 4k, so I'll rewatch that >>21231
the fat one that repeats the same jokes over and over again in a desperate search for approval and makes really cringey comments whenever the topic of women comes up
