EXPLANATION FOR ACCIDENTAL DATABASE DAMAGE
I, too, prefer catalogue view. Spammy funposters and 'generals' often occupy early pages.
catalog seems a bit slow at loading, maybe page view is faster? really don't mind catalog view but the performance is slow.
>>387
page view may be faster per page load, but you will have to click through the pages to see all the threads, which is suboptimal for a Tor hidden service with higher than average latency. Catalog view is better.
Approximately how long does it take you to load the overboard? (just as a benchmark)
>>389
hmm... you're right, it is rather slow. On my computer, accessing the main page through the hidden service takes around 3 seconds, and the overboard takes around 11 (loading through localhost gives me near-instant results so it isn't an engine problem).
I will think of the best way to get around this problem, whether that's adding a limit parameter to the catalog and overboard pages, decreasing the quality of the catalog icons (or making them all JPEGs), or whether implementing page view is necessary. Anyway, thanks for the input, I will try to fix that problem soon.
What I'm most likely to do is simply to just make all catalog icons into JPEGs, so that GIF and PNG icons will be reduced in size greatly. This will speed page load times a lot and reduce bandwidth. Of course, icons in pages will remain in their original formats.

All future threads created will now have JPEG icons. Existing icons will remain in their existing formats, but they will eventually go away. Thumbnails will always remain in their original format, since thumbnails' quality should be higher.
tl;dr the problem will now fix itself over the course of a few weeks

What do I do CDNs are so fucking gay holy shit. I already changed the nameservers WHY ISN'T IT LEAVING CLOUDFLARE

Does page view even exist? The creator of the board software seems to be going for simplicity. Instead of offering both page view and catalog view, offering only one is simpler.
Fewer features means less code. Less code means less bugs (theoretically). It's fine.
normal board view is only good on an overboard to lurk and see what's being posted recently on the chan with some context without digging each board and thread individually. catalog is good for actually finding shit you're specifically interested in.

Agreed, minimalism is best.
Does HTTP/2 work over Tor ? That would allow all the thumbnails to be sent in one request. But then I don't know if it's easily doable in lua.
I'm happy with the current system but maybe an optional paginated catalogue could help the disgruntled.
index > catalog, because with an index you can see where the conversation currently is before entering the thread
The only thing that needs a fix is that the catalog needs to have a search option tbh. I would use ctrl+f if I had a working computer (have to use my phone until I save up for a good laptop). The motherboard is wrecked beyond belief. I'm just happy my drive appears to be unblemished from the event that unfolded. What happened? It appears one of my cats must have ran across my desk and pushed it off the table.

>laptop falls from ~1.2meter hight
>motherboard wrecked beyond belief
if your computer was that weak, good riddance. i've dropped mine multiple times and it's been totally fine with only a few chips and scratches to show for it - admittedly it had a SSD so I wasn't too worried about data destruction.
Both are useful. No need to be a bunch of retards about it.
Just kidding, if you prefer catalog you can kill yourself.

The cat probably fell on it while it was falling. Also, I have a cement floor underneath the carpet tbh. But it was all a necessary sacrifice to the god bastet. Grand total of sacrifices made:
>8 headphones
>2 Ethernet cables
>5 curtains
>2 couch coshions
>1 plate
>etc

A cat is a soft object and wouldn't be able to destroy the motherboard beyond repair. Admit it your laptop is a weak piece of chink shit.
