You can probably reduce the size by removing the alpha channel or reducing the color palette. I'm guessing it's not, but if its photographic why not just use a jpeg? I would want my 50mb back. plain pool table green background >= wallpaper.

What do you store? I have like 200-300 films, most of them around 8-12 gb, some over 18 gb, some below 2 gb, and about tb or tb and half of lossless music. I keep reserve 200 gb. 1 gb wallpaper folder is nothing.

I usually pick dark backgrounds so they don't impair visibility on transparent terminal windows or the legibility of conky stats. Any tips on mitigating that with brighter ones? My only idea would be some solarized themes.
