she claimed somewhere to have been raised in a religious household. on the other hand, isn't her dad some sort of schizo weed king slacker? depends on when the breakup occurred i suppose, her stepfather might be a crew-cut hardass
from her posts, her mother seems like a cold hag out of some 19th century novel, but i think it may stem from the fact that she is completely unable (and she knows this) to comfort/help/understand her deranged autistic wreck of a child in any way, not in a million years, so instead she has put up a "strict", detached front and commanded her to walk a firm straight line in the hope that ken will bump into its narrow corridors enough to develop "normal" behavior out of sheer trial and error. this seems to have failed rather spectacularly (a common frustration between non-internet generations and the ones that were born on it), and the relationship between mother and daughter is beyond healing. the bit about her finding ken's sketches and dragging her to school to ask the teachers if they found them weird as well must've been absolutely mortifying
