UK is not "very expensive" my GF went to a "russell group" Uni, pretty much the cream of the crop, studying law none the less. She did not have to go into any form of debt and it was pretty much free without grants. The people you knew that went into debt are probably foreigners. Not only that Katie went to college I think, not to a top Uni, these things are free, she might not even be studying for a bachelor. The school she went to is most a school that you can compare to US community colleges. We have those in the Netherlands as well. They are called "MBO" schools and do not even serve bachelors.
