Katie came from the same constituency where that MP, Jo Cox, died back in 2016. She barely lifted a finger against the grooming gangs but is now seen as a standard bearer of liberal tolerance and diversity. Schools in general, and especially in Katie's area, are drenched in this narrative.
One of her family members (or very close family friend - it's hard to tell on Facebook) converted to Islam and married a Muslim man. That, along with school, is likely where Katie got her pro Muslim and 'Free Palestine' views from.
It's not unusual for Gen Z in West Yorkshire to be pro Muslim and pro diversity. When it comes to views on diversity and identity, West Yorkshire is much closer to Greater Manchester and London than it is to the eastern half of Yorkshire, or the eastern shires of England in general.
