No, I'm not anyone you'd know, though I've been around for a while so I am aware of who you are.
As for ethics... I'm not sure that's the term I'd use for my view on it, but sure, people can post what they want within the rules and as long as it isn't detrimental to the board or impedes it's purpose and proper functioning or the experience of other users.
It's an interesting comment you make about "trying to go for a certain mystique." And it's probably true. For my part I do think it's best, in places such as this, not to maintain any form of identifiable persona or to divulge too much about oneself.
