I think it's weird when people reach out just to say hello. I had a friend/herder text me that 'we don't talk much so I'm deleting your number', I didn't reply. I don't like being made to feel like I need to keep a schedule of upkeeping a relationship, like I need to make one 20min phone call every six months to make sure you're alright.
I'm more of a see you around friend.
