I remember talking to somebody on 8chan years ago about the storage life of a DVD. Apparently DVD can get bit rot too after long-term use. It also depends how they are stored and the environmental conditions they are stored, they should be kept away from heat, humidity and sunlight, protected from dust build-up or from being scratched easily. The brand of DVD might matter too, some brands make cheaper ones that may not last as long. I recommend getting an 8TB external drive to store your favorite media for backup, not just relying on something that can, and eventually will, wear and tear.
