Valentinian Aeons: The Christian Gnostic theologian Valentinus (around 160 CE) expanded the concept into a primal octet of four male and female pairs, such as Depth (Bythos) and Silence (Sige), Mind (Nous) and Truth (Aletheia), Word (Logos) and Life (Zoe), and Man (Anthropos) and Church (Ekklesia).
