Because the authorities are fundamentally incompetent and illegitimate, Gnosticism inherently promotes a form of spiritual anti-authoritarianism.
True salvation does not come from obeying the laws of the land, the rules of the church, or the creator god of this world. Instead, it comes from achieving Gnosis (internal, experiential knowledge of the true divine), which allows the individual to bypass, outsmart, and ultimately defeat the incompetent authorities ruling the material world.
