I could see them doing it for PR reasons. If something bad were to happen, like for example Seth gets visited by some crazy Russians or, God forbid, Bonbi ends up committing suicide; at least 4chan could say that they banned the general weeks before.
Even if the exact same content is in /ttg/, it would look better in the press if /bbg/ doesn't exist.
