Mods went hard after Gamergate threads many years ago, when those threatened to escalate.
I could see a similar situation, where they are afraid something could happen irl and 4chan could be held liable.
This way they can at least say that they tried their best to get rid of doxxing by not just deleting posts & banning people, but when it went to far, they even banned the general entirely.
