Current scientific community talk about a dark energy/matter in this universe, but they don't know exactly how it works, because this dark energy/matter doesn't react with light/photons (it's invisible). They only know about it indirectly, not with direct measures.
In contrast, psychics claim that they know something about this mysterious dark energy/matter and they know how work with it (at least in some ways). Even some psychics claim to have some perception of it (third eye, 6th sense, 6th chakra,...)
In traditional religions/spirituality, dark energy/matter is called: Life force, ether, chi, ki, prana, mana,... An example of science fiction is from the Start Wars saga (movies/books), they called it 'The force'.
If this dark energy/matter is real, we desire to have complete knowledge about it and absolute control over it.
