That being said, and with understanding that people are heavily dumbed down and manipulated (not worse), I've noticed over the years that there is something wrong with how people interact with each other. I think I still had that in my early teenage years - the ability to effortlessly match the flow of a conversation - but that was before I entered rebelious phase and started fleshing out my individuality.
There's a decision at that point to be made and I think a lot of people choose to stay with the 'flow' because it's more comfortable and carries less risk of being ostracized.
When you talk to people, or just hear them talk from the sidelines, notice how unobtrusive and predictable, almost automated in a way, the replies are most of the time, it's because people don't actually think when they speak. Instead they go on autopilot which is the subconcious, uncreative mind and simply regurgitate whatever formulas they've been fed through school and TV. That's how they're able to click so well and pour out a flood of verbal diarhea. Creative, conscious mind is far slower than unconscious so you come off as a mouthbreather if you don't interact with others with your subconscious mind at the wheel so even if some might not want to of their own they'll eventually be trained to, or they'll vanish from social life.
It might be an oversimplification but that's at least part of it.
