Yeah, just kinda refine your answer. Unironically, don't make it seem like you just think Japan is a cool vacation. Or, if you do go that route, expand on why briefly, you decided to live there because... some aspect of the society you wanted to be apart of that deals with their industry.
You know you could unironically say you wanted to work there because you feel you can offer a better understanding of the language than anything else you've seen, which would provide clarity, ease of communication, etc- if translating was what you were going for. But yeah, otherwise "I thought it would be cool to live there" probably comes off to them as "oh no, he just wants us as a meal ticket and rent money so yet one more weeabo can live out his Japan fantasy".
We'll ignore the latter is closer to the truth than anything else, as self evident by the NEETdom.
I had a pre-screen interview myself on Tuesday.
I had a pre-screen interview with another company, and Yamaichi almost a month ago. The space in time between those last two basically tells me it's a no, especially since both had said it would only take them a week to go through candidates and call back.
