The MNLA never had an actual country directly supporting them with military equipment, though. They just buried all their equipment after WWII and waited it out before starting their habbening. They were also often grossly outnumbered by the Commonwealth forces and then there's the ethnic angle as well, the MNLA being predominately ethnic Chinese and never getting much support from the ethnic Indians or Malays.
