I'm pretty sure what you're talking about is related to charging portable devices, not every single device. It's basically to tell Apple to stop making it's one useless proprietary cable and force the iPhone into USB C. I also wouldn't want a bunch of portable devices that all need a different proprietary cable either.
There are some wired keyboards that use USB C, but usually they're meant for iPads and are smaller than full desktop keyboards. I'm sure eventually even full keyboards will go to USB C but not anytime soon.
