From what I've seen the "all-in-one" solutions just link them all up and make it look pretty to choose between them. Though last time I tried myself it seemed like a mess too, but I haven't really bothered since.
Doesn't Duckstation have a Linux version? Can't imagine the shaders acting any different from the Windows version.
