The first was a preventative legalist countercoup which successfully allowed the elected President to assume office, and the second a failed coup though politically the result was a draw. As it distinguishes military and political perpetrators, more cases than registered were by both political and military factions. The 1964 case is formally known as a "Civilian-military coup" and happened so swiftly through strong support among governors and Congress.
