So in 1941 summer the fight broke out in the area of the "European gullet", then moved to the Soviet "crisis-line". During 1942 the front was toward the Caucasus in the south, but along the crisis-line it remained more ore less the same. The Soviet winter campaign of 1942-43 removed the southern salient, and pushed back the front from Stalingrad to the Donets region.
Since then to the date of Szálasi's study in late '43, the Germans were in constant defense and the Soviet in constant offense. He tries to establish the resons behind this. First he takes a look at the general situation of the European Strategic Space how it was in the beginning of 1943, because he believes the German Command formed their plans for that year on the basis on the general situation. So we should take a look on what he saw (this will be not a literal but a close translation since I can't condense this list further).
