I think the Syrian cleanup, country "unification" effort also the part of this preparations. Expecting Israel participating again.
Western news painted a dire situation for the Iranian regime during the protests, which probably had been an exaggeration of the situation to make Western population accept an intervention if that happened.
Question is... How much Iran could recovered from the bombings of last year? Do they have a more reliable cadre who can man the harpoons AA defense? Did they get some sweet tech from China? Or at least some not so sweet and mundane weapons? Afterall China has a reason to support Iran, make em even more reliable on China, for that sweet oil, now that they lost Venezuela.

Meanwhile EU (Council I guess) designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. Probably Britain next in line to do that.

This means two things:
1. they are creating the legal basis, the justification for the US to strike on a US enemy, making Iran a pariah state, pairing this with the "mass murder of protesters" making the regime pariah
2. the EU does what the US says, it's obvious they have nothing to gain with all this Iranian wankery which also means their niggling around the Ukrainian peace deal and the continued support of Ukraine also is done for US will I had no doubt, see the US Foreign Policy in Perspective book, this is just an indication that they are just willingless puppets.
