Found a book very much related to this topic: War and Economy in the Third Reich by Richard Owery
In the preface he notes some caveats:
THE present work is the fruit of twenty years of research and writing on the German economy under Hitler. [...] The rest of the chapters reproduce journal articles. [...] Naturally enough over the course of twenty years I have changed my mind about a lot of things, and learned a great deal. I blush at the infelicities of expression and uncritical assumptions of the early pieces. I hope there remains sufficient consistency here to avoid the danger that the conclusions of one chapter cancel out the evidence supplied in another. I have tried in the Introduction to link the different pieces together, and to suggest ways in which the subject has developed during the time the essays were written.

I intend to read this. Not sure if I'll report anything from it here. The pace I'm writing this /kc/ blog these days is very slow. But maybe it worth doing so. However I should re-acquaint myself with Tooze's research.
