1026th Birthday of Hungary

As usual skipping the speeches of politicians, still I will write about something that has relevance to daily politics: the counties of Hungary, and Saint Stephen's work to found and organize them.

How this ties to our present?
Hungary is divided into 19 counties. A county is a higher level of administration, each has a city with county rights as the center of administration (there are more cities with county rights than counties tho). Historically county is called vármegye in Hungarian, but in the 1950s the communists chopped the vár literally means castle or palace and ever since we just call them megye.
A "scandal" erupted couple of years ago, the Fidesz dared to restore the traditional name, vármegye, which the leftliberals found as an absolutely horrendous crime against humanity, a road straight back to feudalism, and they took three positions, they either were angry about it, or mocked it, or alternated between the two. Now the Tisza govt. restoring the "communist" term megye. I'm not sure if the law is passed already or still in the pipes.
I think it's quite hypocritical from the leftlib. They usually very pro-Anglo, for them England is the bastion of progress, they just can't gobble the cock of Starmer and the rest more. But the UK and the English language is full of old, traditional words and customs, for example county isn't a de-feudalised term, it is the old medieval one! Or the best representative is the words: "landlord" and "tenant" - if you want to live somewhere odds are you will be a rent paying tenant! In England you are a literal serf if you aren't a property owner and a feudal lord if you are.
In case a Hungarian gets lost on the internet and somehow ends up reading this. While we have the de-feudalized terms of főbérlő and albérlő, the English still uses the feudal term of hűbérúr and jobbágy to describe this relation, and there noone gives a shit about it.
