503 is usually a sign that backend was down.
If you check the daily graphs (scroll way down on the home page for the link) from yesterday it shows a gap at 11-14:00 UTC.
Now sure what's cause it, but we modified the bans list page recently and we're suspecting a bug that crashed the db.
