>The first too were severely handicapped by bad writing. Though I don't have a full hatred of them, I agree that number 2 deserves to have it's feet to the coals.
I know the first one isn´t the worst because at least, it shows some sort of spin off entertainment. It can be perfectly considered as surplus content to fill the afternoon. Not like IDW with comics for MLP or the chapter books but almost like that,as far as I am concerned.

>One thing I've noticed though was a change in discourse with episode 3 was that it used to be lumped togather with the others
that was its function but the same you can say about Rouge One as well. It serves as pretty fine connection and backstory for the motivations behind the villain.

>but I've now see even some OT purist start to soften to it. I think because, while still flawed, there was also extreme highs that it hit as well.
yeah, especially after Disney touched the franchise. I watched it after having a bad taste in my mouth for watching episode 7 (cliché as hell by the way) and I was pleasantly surprised of how cohesive it was. It may be somewhat passive in comparison to the original trilogy but one has to stop and appreciate the conversations between the Chancellor and Anakin. As we are writing dark backstories while avoiding the edgy clichés, the film adds a philosophical turn in those calm scenes. It brings some phrases to think and they are pretty subtle. The action scenes especially the last ones have reached a memorable status.

I cannot say anything really bad about the 3rd prequel because the passive scenes in retrospective, are darker and deeper than one fan of action may believe.
