The content is out of proportions in comparison to other franchises but relatively speaking, it doesn´t come close to half of the content.

Even though I usually reference 2015 to 2016 as the turning point in which the fandom calmed itself a lot, maybe the agreement of NSFW came sooner than that year.

Probably a sign of protest and one possible reason why it´s slowly increasing. Not because the rule itself is wild for meme purposes but because the community around those types of images demand more (some of them don´t upvote everything though, I think that most of them also consider the quality of the drawing as SFW pics). I´ve seen decent anthros that have only 90 upvotes and not what I would have expected in terms of likes.

That laidback mentality may come because of oversaturation of content and depletion of such taboo. You end up with a face like pic related about that stuff.
