Exactly. I didn't say this because I wanted folks to think through it.

You try to post, it says "Error thread is locked" -- you go back to catalog and join the new thread, pasting your reply there.
All eyes see it, the dig or whatever continues rather than dying.

My solution is probably not possible for endchan, but an anon coded one that BO or BV (if enabled) could run, even just in a dedicated instance running on an Xvfb somewhere, if they were so inclined...

Or maybe you guys can discuss and come up with something better?
