FBI arrests Republican gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley

LANSING — The FBI arrested Republican gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley at his western Michigan home while executing a search warrant Thursday, Crain's has learned.

FBI spokesperson Mara Schneider did not immediately give a reason for the arrest and raid, saying information would be forthcoming.

Kelley, who lives in Allendale, could not immediately be reached for comment.

The real estate broker, one of five remaining GOP candidates for governor, attended the violent Jan. 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol.

He also organized an armed protest against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-at-home orders at the state Capitol in 2020.
