Air traffic control-style headphones, possibly with a mic on the other side. These are bulky for comfort so you can wear them for hours. (Like sound studio headphones.)

If this is CM (or someone like that working on IT things) and he's communicating in real-time with others (Cyber Command?) then the headphones would enable him to type while he's communicating.
