a real battery system uses it's own power to heat the batteries preventing them from getting ice cold.
I know nothing of electric vehicles, but I study LiFePO4 battery chemistry (most EVs use other Li chemistries).
my guess is this guy waited waaaaaaay too long before trying to recharge. Looked like the battery did not have enough charge left to thaw itself without being plugged in. These cars should be sitting in a garage where they don't freeze solid.
And I'd like to point out this is one man, not the whole industry, complaining.
Very good chance there is user error involved.
