Haven't watched it yet but one reason I think they are buffoons is because they are so anti-social in more ways than one. They are extremely selfish and radically ideological which is a trait of being anti-social. Anti-social people do not tend to fit in well with the rest of society. The more they push their crap onto others the more normal people will push back against their crap because they never asked for it. Not to mention many of their radical ideologies just won't work IRL. Let's say you take away everything from someone and they own nothing. Exactly what incentives are you providing them to work? Why would they work for you if they can own nothing in return? Heck, why wouldn't they just become robbers themselves? At least that would be an incentive, and that's exactly what would happen. That's not going to create a civilized society at all. Not at all.
