The Civil War: 1863 Union Supply Line in Chattanooga. Historian Wilson Greene discussed the supply line or "Cracker Line" of the Chattanooga Campaign of 1863. Union victory at Chattanooga left the rivers, rails, and roads of the area firmly under Union control, and transformed Chattanooga into a supply and communications base that paved the way for General Sherman's 1864 March to the Sea. This was part of the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier's annual event in Petersburg, Virginia.
