According to Lavrov, Western countries see relations with Africa and the rest of the global South only as "an opportunity to live at the expense of others, to gain unilateral advantage".
The Russian official arrived in Ouagadougou the previous evening on his first visit to the country. Earlier during his African tour, the Russian diplomat had visited the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Congo.
