Sherman Martin Austin (born April 10, 1983) is an American anarchist and musician who was previously arrested for hosting inflammatory content on his website and later convicted. He became the first individual successfully prosecuted under 18 U.S.C. § 842(p), a federal law that prohibits the distribution of information about explosives when done with the knowledge or intent that it will be used to commit a violent federal crime. In 2002, Austin accepted a plea agreement and served one year in federal prison. His prosecution was later protested by some academics and activists, including Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine.
