Disney didn’t just make Wonder Man a black guy.
They made him an UNEMPLOYED black guy.
And not just an UNEMPLOYED black guy, an unemployed HAITIAN black guy.
And not just an unemployed HAITIAN black guy, an unemployed HAITIAN black guy who uncontrollably destroys things with his mind when he gets angry.
Not a scientist.
Not a cop/detective.
Not a soldier.
Not anything aspirational or inspiring.
They turned a powerful white superhero into a black can’t-keep-a-job loser who’s an existential threat to humanity.
They call this representation.
I call it RACISM.
