Faye L Root @littlebayschool - You know that part in As Good as It Gets where Helen Hunt is fed up with Jack Nicholson and basically tells him to “Give me a good compliment or I’m leaving,” and he’s kind of a jerk but he genuinely likes her and is trying to say something real, and he ends up saying, “You make me want to be a better man,” and then she is floored and says maybe thats the best compliment shes ever gotten?

Its just a movie and in lots of ways movies are only fodder for entertainment. But I end up thinking about this scene quite often for the simple reason that it describes exactly how I feel about my kids and my husband. Never before have I tried so hard. Or realized my faults so acutely. Or wanted so deeply to improve.
