Linwei Ding, also known as Leon Ding, 38, on seven counts of economic espionage and seven counts of theft of trade secrets for stealing thousands of pages of confidential information containing Google’s trade secrets related to artificial intelligence technology for the benefit of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

FBI Director Kash Patel @FBIDirectorKash - Honored to be with our @FBIMiami team today remembering fallen Special Agents Dan Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger - who were killed in the line of duty February 2, 2021 in Sunrise, Florida while serving a warrant in a crimes against children investigation.
Laura joined the FBI in 2005 beginning in the Albuquerque Field Office - and transferred to the Miami Field Office in 2010 to work crimes against children cases - known for her passion on the subject and often speaking to parents about the importance of protecting kids online. She is survived by her husband and two sons.
Dan joined the FBI in 2009 beginning in the Albany Field Office. He moved to Headquarters in 2014 to work in the Crimes Against Children Unit before transferring to the Miami Field Office in 2017. Dan at one time received the FBI’s highest honor for his work in an investigation that took down a child exploitation site on the dark web. He is survived by his wife and son.
They represented the best of the FBI and their sacrifice is a reminder of what our men and women lay on the line every single day to protect the vulnerable. We’ve officially commissioned a memorial statue in their honor to help ensure the impact of their service lasts for decades to come.
