Vance also addressed affordability and housing prices:
“Housing prices are down. Apartment rents are down. For months in a row, we came in saying we wanted to make housing more affordable, and we're starting to make good progress on that.”
Vance said mortgage costs would go down further if Fed Chair Powell lowered interest rates.

Ahead of the vice president’s speech, Rep. Van Orden addressed the audience, which numbered a few hundred.
“We want legal immigration here,” he said. “We want to welcome people from around the world, but they must come here legally.”
He also spoke about eliminating tax on tips, rural healthcare, and being raised in “abject poverty by a single mother.”
Administrator Kelly Loeffler spoke about lower tax rates for small businesses, reducing taxes overall, and cleaning up fraud. “Democrats owe you an apology,” she said.
