Catherine Herridge @C__Herridge - NEW: Multiple contacts tell me that one of the reasons House Intelligence Committee Chairman Crawford @RepRickCrawford recommended to President Trump that DIA Chief General Kruse be removed for cause, was Kruse's denial of the Purple Heart for a service member who was hit by a directed energy weapon overseas.
Asked for comment, his spokesperson provided a statement attributable to Chairman Crawford.
“The personnel of the intelligence community, diplomatic corps, and military should be aware that the Committee’s investigation continues more aggressively than at any point, and Chairman Jackson and I are committed to keeping faith with them for their service to the nation.
As I have said in an open hearing last year, I recommended at the time that former DIA Director Kruse be removed for cause. The reason directly related to his actions in a specific AHI survivor’s case. I will continue to respect the privacy of that victim as it relates to the circumstances around that treatment."
