Chamath Palihapitiya @chamath - Chinese growth is falling off a cliff. The CCP just announced its official growth target of between 4.5% and 5%.
This is the lowest growth in China in 30 years.
At the same time, with Venezuela and Iran off the chess board wrt energy supply, they are increasingly challenged in getting the atoms they need to sustain themselves.
It makes for a very constrained set of decisions over these next few years, especially wrt Taiwan.

Chris Martz @ChrisMartzWX - Hi. Meteorologist here.
Yes, there is actually truth to the claim that you can smell the rain before it rains!
Healthy soils contain bacteria, and one of the most abundant bacteria in soil, especially moist soil, is actinomycete. Actinomycetes are crucial filamentous, Gram-positive soil bacteria (often resembling fungi) that decompose tough organic matter like cellulose and lignin as part of a healthy cycle.
When that soil dries out, the actinomycetes produce tiny aerosol-like spores that get kicked up when raindrops first hit the ground. Then, the thunderstorm downdraft-produced outflow carries these airborne particles downwind to your location before the rain starts to fall there. The actinomycetes produce geosmin, which gives it that Earthly scent your Grannie was referring to.
